Samson K. Cahill, DC, DACBRDiplomate-American Chiropractic Board of Radiology Dr. Sam Cahill earned his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in 2002. He later completed a three-year residency at NUHS in Diagnostic Imaging. Residency training included daily sessions with accredited radiologists, weekly trips to outside facilities for further training in advanced imaging, and practical experience as part of a successful radiology practice. At the end of his residency he passed the certification test administered by the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (ACBR), thereby granting him Diplomate status. The credential of DACBR was first granted in 1958, and since that time there have been only approximately 300 certified chiropractic radiologists. In May of 2007, Dr. Cahill started his own reading practice, Cahill Diagnostic Imaging. Dr. Cahill is dedicated to service of chiropractic physicians. Imaging studies are ordered to best guide patient treatment including distinguishing between patients requiring interventional care from those better served with conservative care. Dr. Cahill believes it is important to accurately describe and categorize even conditions best treated conservatively because often the anatomy of a lesion such as a disc protrusion may guide the chiropractic physician toward the most effective treatment protocols for that patient. He frequently presents continuing education lectures for chiropractic physicians. Favorite topics are normal MRI anatomy and classification of disc pathology. So much non-specific terminology has been used in the past to describe disc lesions, that trying to standardize the descriptions of disc lesions will improve communication between radiologist and clinician, and in turn, clinician and patient. Many Chicago area chiropractic physicians and 4 MRI centers including Lakeshore Open MRI/CT, Delaware Place MRI, and Lakeside MRI currently rely upon Dr. Cahill as a chiropractic radiologist. Dr. Sam Cahill is currently a member in good standing with the American College of Chiropractic Radiology, Council on Diagnostic Imaging, American Chiropractic Association, and Illinois Chiropractic Association. Dr. Cahill completed his undergraduate training at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology in 1998. He has a 2nd Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology granted in 2000. Outside of his radiology practice, Dr. Cahill is an avid athlete. He is a two time finisher of the Chicago Marathon, competitor in the US Volleyball Association, and was a long-time personal trainer at Parks Plus Fitness Center in Wheaton, IL. |
